Karen is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with 37 years of experience. She started Pediatric Speech and Language Services, Inc. in the fall of 1993. She obtained her BS from Appalachian State University in 1978 and her M.Ed from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1980. Karen was one of the founding members of NC AG Bell in 1993, a past president of NC AG Bell, and the first recipient of the NC AG Bell Daniel Ling award in 2004. Karen became a certified LSLS Auditory Verbal Therapist in 1997. Her specialty is working with children who have severe articulation and language delays from a variety of etiologies and with children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Karen has had the privilege of working in many settings: schools, clinics, and homes with children from infancy to high school. Karen can teach language to deaf children using sign language, Cued Speech, Oral and Auditory/Verbal therapies. She is committed to each child having access to the services needed to ensure effective linguistic development.

Emily is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with special interests in working with clients who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. She obtained her BS from Ithaca College in Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped in 1994 which included a teacher's certificate, and her MA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Speech-Language Pathology in 1997. Emily joined Pediatric Speech and Language Services, Inc. as the first employee in 1997. Emily and her family moved to coastal NC in 2011. Emily sees clients along the southern coast of NC. Emily is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, AG Bell, and NC AG Bell. Emily became a LSLS Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist in 2009. Emily is fluent in American Sign Language and Cued Speech.

Erin is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with special interests in working with clients who are deaf and hard-of-hearing, who have oral motor/feeding difficulties, and/or articulation and language disorders. She obtained her BS in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from West Virginia University in 1998, and her MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Radford University in 2002. Erin joined Pediatric Speech and Language Services, Inc. in July 2003. Erin specializes in working with early intervention, preschool, and school-age clients in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg and Union County areas. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, AG Bell, NC AG Bell, and NCSHLA. Erin is trained in using Beckman Oral Motor Massages, Medical, Motor, and Behavioral Feeding Programs, Auditory/Verbal Techniques, sign language, and Cued Speech. Erin also serves as part of the team of the Carolina’s Center for Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery in Charlotte, doing speech screenings quarterly with the team. She works with UNC-Chapel Hill feeding team, as an outsource here in the Charlotte area for private feeding difficulties. Erin has experience working with breast feeding infants, lip/tongue tied clients, g-tube/ng tube clients, swallowing difficulties, and other behavioral feeding difficulties due to aversion and oral motor incoordination. Erin has a therapy space located at 400 N. Broome Street, Suite 303, Waxhaw, NC 28173 to see private clients.
