Karen is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with 33 years of experience. She started Pediatric Speech and Language Services, Inc. in the fall of 1993. She obtained her BS from Appalachian State University in 1978 and her M.Ed from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1980. Karen was one of the founding members of NC AG Bell in 1993, a past president of NC AG Bell, and the first recipient of the NC AG Bell Daniel Ling award in 2004. Karen became a certified LSLS Auditory Verbal Therapist in 1997. Her specialty is working with children who have severe articulation and language delays from a variety of etiologies and with children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Karen has had the privilege of working in many settings: schools, clinics, and homes with children from infancy to high school. Karen can teach language to deaf children using sign language, Cued Speech, Oral and Auditory/Verbal therapies. She is committed to each child having access to the services needed to ensure effective linguistic development.

Emily is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with special interests in working with clients who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. She obtained her BS from Ithaca College in Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped in 1994 which included a teacher's certificate, and her MA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Speech-Language Pathology in 1997. Emily joined Pediatric Speech and Language Services, Inc. as the first employee in 1997. Emily and her family moved to coastal NC in 2011. Emily sees clients along the southern coast of NC. Emily is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, AG Bell, and NC AG Bell. Emily became a LSLS Certified Auditory Verbal Therapist in 2009. Emily is fluent in American Sign Language and Cued Speech.

Dana is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with special interests in working with clients who are deaf and hard-of-hearing, especially preschool and early school age children. She obtained her BA in Child and Family Development from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1992, her BS in Communication Disorders from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1995 and her MA in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University in 1997. Dana joined Pediatric Speech and Language Services, Inc. as the second employee in November 1997. Dana provides services for families living in the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill areas of NC (including surrounding counties). Dana is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, AG Bell and NC AG Bell. Dana can teach language to deaf children using sign language, Cued Speech, Oral and Auditory/Verbal therapies. Since 1997, she has worked for many counties in North Carolina and New Hampshire providing services in schools, preschools, daycares, and home settings. Dana has devoted most of her continuing education advancing her knowledge and clinical skills for working with students with cochlear implants and sensory processing disorders. Dana is currently working toward her LSLS Auditory Verbal certification.
